Quality Rehabilitation Services

The Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Acute Rehabilitation Department provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology services. Patients can be referred to any of these services by their physician. Once a physician has ordered the service, a qualified therapist will complete a thorough evaluation of strengths, limitations, and rehabilitation potential. Bergen New Bridge also has physiatrists (a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation) on staff who may assess a patient’s rehabilitation potential and needs. The overall goal of rehabilitation services is to improve and increase or maintain each person’s level of functioning and quality of life by assisting them with achieving his/her maximum potential is all aspects of daily living.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is helpful with the following:

  • Training in use of adaptive equipment
  • Carpel tunnel syndrome
  • Nursing/family education
  • Sensory motor training
  • Adaption of physical environment
  • Cognitive training
  • Pain management
  • Strains and sprains
  • Tendonitis

Physical Therapy

Speech Therapy

Treatment Procedures and Modalities

Bergen New Bridge is proud to offer Kinesio Taping as a rehabilitation treatment option. This procedure was made popular during the Olympics and utilizes a highly specialized elastic tape that has been proven to be helpful in reducing localized swelling associated with surgery, sports injuries, acute trauma, and lymphedema. Other procedures and modalities may include the following:
