Dr. Jeffrey A. Berman is an accomplished health care professional with over 25 years' experience in addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry, specializing in the treatment of young adults with substance use, co-occurring mood, trauma and other mental health disorders. His sought-after experience and knowledge has led him to serve in multiple leadership positions. He is currently serving as both Executive Medical Director for Discovery Institute for Addictive Disorders and SOBA NJ as well as Senior Psychiatric Consultant for U.S. Immigration Health Service Corps in the Department of Homeland Security. His special area of interest, research and teaching lies in Pain Management, and Co-occurring Opioid Dependence. He is a strong advocate for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for those with substance use disorder and persistent mental illness. He has developed innovative delivery systems and models or care for these populations. In 2001, Dr. Berman participated in NIDA's clinical trials of Buprenorphine/Naloxone for opioid dependence. His special area of interest, research and teaching lies in Pain Management, and Co-occurring Opioid Dependence. Dr. Berman speaks nationally on Medication Assisted Treatment and Co-occurring Disorders, sharing his extinguished knowledge with the medical community.
