Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Unveils Innovative Emergency Department to Serve a Growing Community
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is opening our newly expanded, state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED), marking a major milestone in our mission to deliver accessible, high-quality, and compassionate care.
More than double the size of the current ED, our new Emergency Department now features nearly 50 beds and is designed to meet both the growing volume and evolving complexity of emergency cases. From shorter wait times to innovative care models, every element of the new ED has been built with patients and their loved ones in mind.
Our Emergency Department takes a groundbreaking approach to integrating physical and mental healthcare. The ED features separate, dedicated spaces for acute medical issues and behavioral health emergencies, ensuring patients receive focused, appropriate care in a safe and supportive environment. The new Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment and Healing (EmPATH) unit offers a calming, therapeutic setting for those experiencing a mental health crisis, setting a new standard for emergency psychiatric care in the region.
Technologically advanced and thoughtfully designed, our new ED improves patient flow and dramatically reduces wait times. Enhanced triage protocols, real-time data systems, and streamlined care coordination allow their expert team to deliver timely, personalized care when it matters most.
We have taken special steps to ensure the Emergency Department meets the needs of some of the most vulnerable populations. Specialized care areas have been created for older adults, offering quieter environments, fall prevention features, and staff trained in geriatric emergency care. In addition, our ED is a Certified Autism Center, purposefully designed to serve neuropergent patients with low-stimulation environments, sensory-friendly tools, and staff trained in compassionate, inclusive care practices.
We understand an emergency room visit is never just clinical—it’s emotional. That’s why we built a space that treats not only the illness, but the whole person. Whether it’s the latest diagnostic technology, concierge-style patient experience, or the simple reassurance of a calm, welcoming atmosphere, our new Emergency Department is a place where advanced medicine and human kindness meet.
When every second counts, our community can count on us. With expert emergency professionals, leading-edge care, and a deep commitment to compassion, our Emergency Department will soon be ready to care for you and your loved ones—today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
