Compassionate Behavioral Health Care

One-quarter of all Americans will experience a mental illness during their lifetime. Mental or emotional problems affect all aspects of our lives. We may become so overwhelmed we cannot function day-to-day. Signs and symptoms an individual may exhibit include one or more of the following:

  • Overwhelming sadness and despair
  • Severe mood swings
  • Excessive and uncontrolled anger
  • Severe agitation
  • Hearing voices
  • Assaultive behavior
  • Suicidal behavior and/or threats
  • Excessive/uncontrolled anxiety
  • Depression

We Have the Level of Care You Need

Acute Partial Hospitalization helps people who need intensive treatment but do not require 24-hour care. This comprehensive program provides structured treatment daily while allowing patients to return home each evening. There are two program tracks available: Acute Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis Partial Hospitalization.

Outpatient Treatment is available for various mental health diagnoses and includes comprehensive mental health evaluation, individual, group and family therapy, and medication management. Care is individualized based on the patient’s clinical needs.

Getting the Help You Need

Referrals may be made by physicians, psychologists, social workers, mental health professionals, social service agencies, family members, or friends. A referral is not necessary for someone to schedule an appointment. If you feel you need our services, you may schedule an appointment; a referral is unnecessary. For people with emotional difficulties requiring immediate attention, evaluation is available 24 hours a day by skilled and compassionate Emergency Department staff. The decision to admit someone for inpatient treatment is made by a team of mental health professionals led by a psychiatrist.

You can schedule an evaluation for outpatient treatment by calling the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center’s Access Center at 800.730.2762. Select option #2 for Outpatient Services.

The highly trained professionals at Bergen New Bridge realize early intervention and treatment are essential to providing the care needed for optimal results. Yet, younger patients are often reluctant to participate in the treatment process and frequently do not come forward with issues they may be having. This is why the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center team works closely with parents, families, and appropriate school officials to provide resources to identify problems early on and set up successful treatment programs which are more accessible for younger patients to access and accept.

Treatment is available at Bergen New Bridge for patients ranging from the ages of 5 to 17 who may exhibit any of the following symptoms:

  • ADHD
  • Bullying
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • OCD
  • Bipolar Disorder

Treatment modalities include psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, individual, family and group therapy and support for parents.

Family Plays an Important Role

When one person in a family suffers from a mental or emotional illness, everyone else is affected. Stress and strains in relationships are intensified. We understand this and encourage family members to express their needs and feelings. We are committed to helping families participate in their loved one’s recovery process by encouraging active involvement in treatment and educational programs.

CommonGround™ Self – Assessment Program

To better meet the needs of our patients, we utilize an outpatient software program designed to enhance the shared decision-making between the patient and their physician. This software has proven to be a very successful tool for patients and physicians exploring new treatment options.
