The LGBTQ+ Health & Wellness Center at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center was created to meet your unique health needs. Whether you’re seeking hormone therapy, HIV care, PrEP, or an LGBTQ+-affirming provider who makes you feel welcome, we’re here for you.
Our program is led by the community, for the community—guided by LGBTQ+ professionals with deep experience in healthcare and community program management. Our approach is shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience, so every service reflects understanding, respect, and trust.
Comprehensive Primary Care
Your provider takes a whole-person approach, addressing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
If your primary care needs include hormone care, PrEP, sexual health services, or preventive screenings, we provide them here in an affirming setting. No question or concern is off-limits—you can bring your whole self to your care.
We emphasize preventive health and wellness, helping close care gaps in screenings and chronic conditions that disproportionately affect the LGBTQ+ community. Our team also understands and supports the health needs of LGBTQ+ individuals as they age.
Preventive Care and Screenings
Every person’s preventive care needs are different. Your provider will help identify the screenings and health maintenance services that best fit your needs and coordinate referrals for specialized care when appropriate.
Gynecologic Services
We provide inclusive, compassionate gynecologic care designed to meet the unique needs of LGBTQ+ individuals.
Our team delivers affirming care for all patients—regardless of gender identity, anatomy, or orientation. Whether you need a routine exam, preventive screening, or treatment for a specific concern, we’re here to support your health and comfort.
Services include:
- Annual well-person exams
- Anatomically appropriate cancer screenings
- Cervical cancer screening (Pap tests) for anyone with a cervix
- Breast/chest cancer screenings, including physical exams, mammograms, ultrasounds, or MRI referrals
- Diagnosis and treatment for common gynecologic issues such as UTIs, bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, STIs, changes in bleeding, pelvic pain, and breast/chest pain
- Contraceptive counseling and prescriptions, including birth control pills
- Sexual health counseling
- Routine STI testing and treatment
- HIV PrEP
- Vaccinations for HPV, hepatitis A and B, and other preventable infections
While we do not currently offer obstetric (pregnancy or delivery) services on-site, our providers will connect you with trusted specialists who share our commitment to inclusive, affirming care. We coordinate referrals to ensure seamless, compassionate support throughout your reproductive health journey.
Hormone Therapy
We use an informed-consent approach to initiating hormone therapy. Your primary care provider will review all information and lab work to help you make the decision that’s right for you.
Medications are conveniently available on-site at the Bergen New Bridge Pharmacy.
Presurgical Exams and Testing
While Bergen New Bridge does not perform gender-affirming surgeries, we provide presurgical exams and testing for both new and established patients preparing for procedures elsewhere.
Our team works closely with you to ensure all required documentation and lab testing are completed promptly and accurately, supporting a smooth surgical process.
Sexual Health
We offer comprehensive sexual health screenings tailored to your needs.
In addition to blood and urine testing, we provide three-site swab tests for enhanced accuracy and peace of mind. Many results are available the same day.
We also offer vaccines that protect against infections that can be transmitted sexually, including mpox, hepatitis A and B, human papillomavirus (HPV), and meningitis.
PrEP (HIV Prevention)
We offer both oral and injectable PrEP options for HIV prevention.
- Pill option: Can be taken daily or with “on-demand” dosing, depending on your preferences and sexual activity. With integrated lab services, most prescriptions can be started the same day as your visit.
- Injectable option: Given every two months—ideal for those who prefer fewer reminders. Your provider can help determine which option is right for you.
Access and Affordability
We accept nearly every private insurance in New Jersey, as well as Medicare and Medicaid. Uninsured patients may qualify for Charity Care.
We also monitor wait times to ensure that both new and returning patients can see a provider promptly.
