Evergreen Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center
The Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (Bergen New Bridge) Addiction Treatment and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program offers a full range of services across the entire continuum of care.
We developed Evergreen to meet the needs of individuals who are suffering from the disease of addiction to drugs and alcohol.
Our programs provide a supportive environment to begin your journey toward recovery. ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) criteria will determine patient placement for those who require residential inpatient or outpatient programming. Appropriate intervention, family participation, and sustained support are the key elements of our treatment services. We are licensed by the NJ Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and fully accredited by The Joint Commission.

Withdrawal Management
This 50+ bed inpatient Withdrawal Management unit provides an initial physical examination and health assessment by addiction board-certified physicians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing attendants under the joint auspices of the Department of Medicine and Behavioral Health Services. Also, a complete biopsychosocial assessment is completed by Licensed or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors to assist with discharge planning and admission to the appropriate level of care. The multidisciplinary team monitors the safe and controlled withdrawal from alcohol, opiates, and benzodiazepines. Upon completion of withdrawal management, the patient will be referred to the most appropriate level of care to continue addiction treatment.
Residential Treatment
Patients who require more intensive treatment will find the structure and programming in our 24-hour-a-day inpatient programs to be “just what the doctor ordered.” Bergen New Bridge residential inpatient programs have a history of providing effective treatment. Our short-term residential program is 21 days long. It includes a group treatment modality, allowing residents to re-learn to focus on themselves and avoid any triggers from the community. Furthermore, the program helps the patient learn additional coping skills and insight into their addictive behaviors and mental health needs.
Our program is designed to protect, strengthen, confidently and secure your recovery efforts. We offer a variety of FDA-approved medication options, including Vivitrol and Suboxone, to manage cravings and urges and prevent relapse. Our multidisciplinary team of clinicians, counselors, medical professionals, and an addictions psychiatrist works with you to create a personalized recovery plan based on your goals.
Not everyone with substance use disorders requires inpatient or residential treatment. Many patients have successfully launched into recovery through an effective outpatient treatment program. The Evergreen IOP program creates an ideal opportunity for you to begin the road to recovery within your community and family. The IOP offers day and evening tracks where you meet for at least 3 hours per day, 3 times per week. The treatment team, which includes you, your counselors, and a psychiatrist — when needed — will meet to develop an individualized treatment plan to help therapeutically address your specific needs and to provide an appropriate set of interventions.
The Evergreen program also offers substance abuse treatment for adolescents 13-17. Known as Teen T.H.R.I.V.E., the program encompasses multiple levels of care, beginning with early intervention, intensive outpatient, and an aftercare component. Teen T.H.R.I.V.E. is also co-occurring licensed by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Teen T.H.R.I.V.E. is committed to family involvement and consistent, collaborative communication between all community agencies and treatment programs.
The Evergreen Substance Abuse Treatment Program at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center provides comprehensive substance use disorder treatment to more than 15,000 people annually.
