Contingency Management Program
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center’s Recovery Center team is privileged to collaborate with DMHAS and DynamiCare to allow our recovering community to access an additional layer of recovery support through the Contingency Management program.
Contingency Management is a type of behavioral therapy modeled from BF Skinner’s Operant Conditioning principles, specially designed for people with stimulant use as part of their stories.
Participation in the program helps integrate recovery-oriented habits into members’ lifestyles with the support of a recovery coaching app. The app provides incentives, education, additional recovery coaching, and accountability, which can keep members who have used stimulants engaged in recovery. Participants will complete therapeutic modules, phone appointments, surveys, and saliva tests. The saliva tests are non-punitive and provide members with accountability within the program. We reward the successful completion of tasks with a monetary amount loaded onto a debit card linked to the app. Members can earn up to $125 over 5 months.
What to Expect:
Over 16 weeks, Contingency Management members will complete recovery support modules through the app and participate in calls with a Recovery Coach. The system prompts members to upload and submit one random saliva test weekly. Members will earn small monetary rewards for completing tasks. At the four- and five-month marks, we conduct a satisfaction and follow-up survey with members, rewarding them with $50. We award $15 at intake, $60 throughout the program for completing tasks, and $50 after completing the 4- and 5-month surveys, totaling up to $125 in potential rewards through the program.
Contingency Management Enrollment Requirements
Members must have a history that includes stimulant use, access to an email address, and the ability to download the CM app onto their mobile device. If someone cannot meet the tech requirements, we can refer them to resources before taking them into the CM program.
How to Refer to/Enroll in Contingency Management
Reach out to the Bergen New Bridge Recovery Center’s CM Manager to refer a new member/set up an in-person CM intake appointment. We prefer onsite intakes to support our clients better. We can arrange free transportation to and from this and other applicable appointments if you need them. The appointment usually lasts up to an hour. It will include completing a data survey, downloading the application, and submitting a virtual saliva panel. Upon completing this appointment, members receive a debit card loaded with $15. CM is also available in Spanish, and a Spanish-speaking team member can work with members through the intake process.
We invite you to contact our Contingency Management Manager, Gary Cicchetti, at 551.228.9437 or gcicchetti@newbridgehealth.org with further questions or to refer to/enroll in Contingency Management.
