Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, New Jersey’s largest hospital and a clinical affiliate of Rutgers, is pleased to announce that Julia Orlando has been elected to serve as Chairperson for the Hospital’s Board of Trustees. She is the first woman to serve in that capacity.Orlando has decades of experience in the behavioral health, addiction and human services industries and has served as Director of the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center since 2009. She is currently the only woman serving as a hospital board chair in Bergen County.
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is operated by not-for-profit Care Plus Bergen, Inc., an innovative alliance between three world-class partners – Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Integrity House, and Care Plus NJ Inc. Ms. Orlando has been a member of the Care Plus Bergen, Inc. Board of Trustees since its inception in 2017, and the 2020-2021 term, she served as Secretary on the Executive Committee.

During her tenure at the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center, Orlando provided leadership for the community-wide effort that led Bergen County to become the first jurisdiction in New Jersey to end Veteran homelessness and first in the nation to successfully reach functional zero for chronic homelessness. Under her direction, the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center has become a national model for best practices and success.
