Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Announces Implementation of Epic, Transforming Care Through Innovation, Integration, and Access
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is proud to announce its selection of Epic, the world’s leading electronic health record (EHR) platform. This transformative move is part of the Medical Center’s long-term commitment to delivering equitable, connected, and patient-centered care to the more than one million lives it touches each year.
As the largest hospital and licensed nursing home in New Jersey and a key public safety-net facility, Bergen New Bridge serves one of the most diverse and medically complex populations in the region. The adoption of Epic represents a bold investment in technology that will streamline operations, enhance clinical decision-making, and dramatically improve a patient’s experience across acute, behavioral health, long-term care, and ambulatory settings.
“This is more than a technology upgrade — it's a fundamental transformation in how we deliver care,” said Deborah Visconi, President and CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “With Epic, we are strengthening the continuity of care, expanding health equity, and empowering both patients and clinicians with tools that make healthcare more human, personalized, and accessible.”
Through Epic’s integrated platform, Bergen New Bridge patients will soon benefit from:
• MyChart access for real-time viewing of health records, test results, and appointment scheduling
• Improved care coordination across all services and care teams
• Stronger clinical workflows to enhance safety, reduce duplication, and support evidence-based care
• Data transparency and analytics to identify health disparities and advance population health strategies
The implementation of Epic will also strengthen Bergen New Bridge’s role in regional care delivery by aligning it with top health systems across the country already using Epic, enabling more seamless information-sharing for patients who receive care in multiple systems.
“Bergen New Bridge has an inspiring vision for using technology to advance community-wide health,” said Leela Vaughn, Vice President, Epic. “We’re proud to support their efforts by providing an integrated health record that empowers care teams and enhances the patient experience across the region.”
With this milestone, Bergen New Bridge not only modernizes its infrastructure but takes a significant step forward in delivering on its promise of high-quality, compassionate, and technology-enabled care for generations to come.
Epic’s health system suite has been ranked number one in the nation for 15 years by KLAS Research and has been chosen by more than 73,000 hospitals and clinics. More than 90% of U.S. medical students and residents train on Epic as their primary residency EHR.
Following the 18-month implementation, Bergen New Bridge is scheduled for a go-live date with Epic early 2027. More details about the implementation and timeline will be shared as they become available.
