Purpose:

To train EMS professionals with strategies necessary to encourage therapeutic & helpful relationships among health professionals, law enforcement, and patients during mental health emergencies.

 

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate effective methods of de-escalating someone in crisis.
  • Recognize common signs of escalation.
  • Identify communication skills that can be used to de-escalate someone in crisis.
  • What is active listening and how it helps.
  • Demonstrate effective methods of de-escalating someone in crisis.
